Jagadish Chandra Bose (Bengali: জগদীশ চন্দ্র বোস, 1858—1937) was an Indian Bengali scientist. He is remembered for his experiments in the fields of radio and microwave optics and botany. He is considered as the father of radio optics. He was also a science fiction writer and wrote his first Bengali science fiction story Niruddesher Kahini (Bengali: নিরুদ্দেশের কাহিনী) in 1896.

Bose wrote in a letter to Sister Nivedita after Vivekananda's death—
